Vanina Datsova
LondonArtistic background
Vanina Datsova’s artistic path began not with playful ease, but with quiet resilience. As a child with a “lazy eye,” she spent many afternoons with her “good” eye closed, filling the pages of colouring books while laughter echoed from outside. Instead of growing discouraged, Vanina discovered a sense of calm and purpose in these moments- a meditation that soon blossomed into genuine joy. Her early art became gifts of love: hand- drawn birthday and Christmas cards that connected her with others and celebrated creativity as a blessing.Life’s demands led her in new directions. After high school, Vanina dedicated herself wholeheartedly to supporting her family, pouring energy and compassion into her role as the right hand of a principal dentist at a leading private practice in Bulgaria. Her caring presence brought ease to both colleagues and patients, helping them find comfort and confidence in their smiles.
Now based in London, Vanina continues to weave art into her daily life. In quiet moments, she escapes into a vibrant, exploratory universe, searching for new ways to express herself through colour and form. Every piece she creates is shaped with meticulous attention and heartfelt love.
Vanina’s naturally calm, positive spirit shines through in her art and in her curiosity about the world around her. Still evolving as an artist, she finds inspiration and fulfillment in minimalism, cherishing the unique elegance and emotional impact that a simple, well-chosen detail can convey. Her journey is one of quiet strength, warmth, and a boundless admiration for life’s beauty- making her art an invitation to see the world, and ourselves, with hope and wonder.
Quote
"Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time." – Thomas MertonInterests
Vanina is passionate about her art and finds inspiration in everything around her, from the view outside her window to the emotions in her portraits. She believes in the idea that “less is more,” choosing to keep her work simple so the true spirit of each subject shines through. She especially loves using oil pastels on watercolour paper because of the bright colours and interesting textures they create. Watercolour also appeals to her, with its mix of free and careful brushstrokes that give her paintings a natural, flowing feel. With these techniques, Vanina aims to make art that feels real and full of expression, showing her thoughtful creative style.
