Description
A very traditional original oil painting depicting in detail one of the finest sailing ships ever built. Launched in 1869 and designed to be a fast ship the Cutty Sark is the only surviving tea clipper. Preserved in dry dock at Greenwich, London.
Warm sunlight, the wind filling the sails and the movement of the sea are the important aspects of this painting. Some very detailed brushwork authentically illustrates the ship and in contrast energetic brushwork provides the motion of the sea.
