Description
I painted this canvas in response to photographs I took at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, where the quality of light under the hot January sun felt almost otherworldly. At that high elevation, the sky seemed intensely blue and luminous, and the air carried a clarity that sharpened every colour.
Painted using professional-quality oil paints, allowing tall, delicate wildflowers to rise and sway across the canvas as if lifted by an unseen breeze, their golden faces turning toward a vast, radiant sky. The intense ultramarine and cerulean blues are layered to create depth and atmosphere, broken by soft, drifting clouds that suggest both movement and stillness, evoking a quiet moment of openness and light.
The surface is finished with a light matte varnish to gently enrich the colours while offering lasting protection. The sides of the canvas are painted white for a clean, contemporary unframed display, and picture-hanging fittings are already in place. Size: 24 x 18 x 0.75 inches or 60.96 cm x 45.72 x 1.50 cm. The painting is signed and dated on the front lower right and again on the reverse, and it is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity. It will be carefully packaged and promptly dispatched, with free UK delivery included.
