Description
I painted this canvas in response to photographs I took at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, where the quality of light under the hot January sun felt almost otherworldly. At that high elevation, the sky seemed intensely blue and luminous, and the air carried a clarity that sharpened every colour. The long-stemmed daisies caught my attention immediately—some fully open, others just beginning to unfurl, and many still held tight in bud, suspended in a moment of anticipation. Their slender stems sway and stretch upward, reaching toward drifting clouds, while their bright, upturned faces drink in the radiant light. I wanted to capture that sense of quiet optimism and upward movement, the feeling of growth and promise held within a single, sun-drenched day.
Painted with professional-quality oil paints, the surface is finished with a light matte varnish to gently enrich the colours while offering lasting protection. The sides of the canvas are painted white for a clean, contemporary unframed display, and picture-hanging fittings are already in place. Size: 24 x 18 x 0.75 inches or 60.96 cm x 45.72 cm The painting is signed and dated on the front lower right and again on the reverse, and it is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity. It will be carefully packaged and promptly dispatched, with free UK delivery included
