Dramatic Lemons with flowers Oil

Part of my lemon series, this beautiful painting features bold and expressive brushstrokes and colors that come to life. It was painted in one sitting from direct observation. I enjoy working in a series studying similar objects under different lighting conditions. This setup was quite dimly lit in my studio, hence the big dramatic shadows. Adding contrast to the lemons and the flowers are little ceramic bowls I picked up on a vacation to Italy.
