Description
Lliwedd is one of the mountains that make up the famous Snowdon Horseshoe walk, along with Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) and Crib Goch. It overlooks Llyn Llydaw, and its forbidding north face was a popular climbing ground for famous climbers such as Mallory in the 1920s and 30s. Majestic Lliwedd, as seen in the painting, is set against its background of hazy rolling mountains and hills, on one of those beautiful sunny days. Eryri/Snowdonia is seen in all its glory, lending itself to the description of Wales as ‘Land of Myths and Legends’.
