Description
This picture is composed of approximately 3000 used postage stamps which are available in a huge range of colours and designs. The stamp colours are not altered or painted over and post marks are still visible on close observation. This picture was created on quality deep edge canvas. It is not framed and should not be displayed in direct sunlight although all canvases are varnished twice and have a coat of U.V. protection.
The picture depicts Tommy Shelby, played in the television series of the same name by Cillian Murphy, a dangerous man, who led a gang based in Birmingham in the period following the Great War. The gang was known as the Peaky Blinders, so called as the members sewed razor blades into the peaks of their caps.
The background colours which dramatically show the city with smoke from chimneys and blazing furnaces depict the industry of the city in that period.
