Description
“Tranquility” is inspired by the beautiful three miles of Cornish white sands that stretch from Hayle Towans along to Gwithian Towans in Cornwall, commonly known as Three Mile Beach. For those that love the sea (as I do), the painting captures the tranquil flow of the Hayle estuary as it continues to run at low tide, with St Ives visible in the background. The estuary marks the boundary between Hayle Towans and Porth Kidney and it has always amazed me how the fishermen navigate their safe passage into Hayle harbour with its shallow channel. There is always a great sense of space, of natural beauty and the contrast in colours of the white sands and the turquoise and blue hues of the sea. It is unsurprisingly popular with dog walkers and those preferring solitude and time to reflect without the presence of too many others. The picture is painted in oil on a box canvas with white painted sides. Ready to hang
