This print is part oil painting and part photography. Printed as a limited edition giclee print.
Here's a little piece of writing I did to accompany the print.
The Wave
Walton-on-the-Naze, Essex
It was a cold day in February, I was new to Essex and wanted to explore. I didn’t know where I was heading, I just got in the car and headed off. I ended up in Walton, a seaside town that was closed up for winter. I wandered to the beach and the north sea was quite magnificent. Huge waves battered the sea wall, some throwing themselves defiantly against the beach huts. I was mesmerised, I’d not witnessed the immense power of the sea like this before. I took out my camera and took hundreds of photos of the waves as the sun hung gloriously in the sky.
I watched as people dart along the path in between the waves with hurried step, some made it, others got soaked. I kept dry from a safe distance.
