"When day is done": Instow, Devon by summer evening's light Oil

The first photo is the final painting. The second and third pictures are selected close ups of the final painting. The fourth picture shows the grissaille underlayer, out of interest (by definition, painted over). The fifth picture is the acrylic plein study, out of interest. Painting, duck cotton canvas, is edged in pale ultramarine blue. It can be strung with D rings (all included in price)- please ask before shipping.

This was a baking summer's hot day and after doing some plein air painting on my land I was taken with the urge to drive an hour to Instow- I seem to like painting here both Instow and from Instow to Appledore- and walk along that stretch of the Tarka trail with my plein air trolley. This particular spot gave a nice view and I had the beneficial effects of the golden light - I finished plein air painting about 8pm. The plein painting became a full painting.
