Description
Oil on linen canvas. I attach photos of the underlayers (by definition, these sit below the final painting) and, for information only, the the ex ante acrylic plein air study. I painted the original plein air study from 4.30 to just before 6pm in late June. At first the weather was a little overcast, then the light came from the right of the picture up the Sound and by 6pm was full sunlight. The wind was quite horrendous and I held on to my easel and palette for dear life. The next day I painted 3 ex ante plein studies- it occurred to me I had three pictures for the price of one- and this is based on the last of these three being the more sunny and likeable of them. Edges of final painting are painted pale ultramarine blue and can, if liked, be mounted with strung D rings (in the price- please request before shipping).
