Description
Picture of Umberleigh bridge, Devon of a hotmid summer's morning. The first backing photo shows detail on the final picture. The other photos show the first colour underlayer (which sits below the final picture) and, for general interest, the arcylic plein air study. Painted on fine linen canvas. Edges painted pale ultramarine blue. Can be mounted with D rings and strung (included in price) if wanted- please ask at time of shipping.
I had set out to capture a river at Torrington, Devon that morning but, despite getting up fairly early, everyone seemed to be getting al fresco breakfasts. It was a week day too!vThe car park was rammed. I drove away and was going back to my home when I saw this bridge- it actually looks older than it is as it was finished in 1915- and thought it would make a good picture. I pitched myself up by an antiques warehouse and started to paint. The plein air study was worked up into a formal oil painting.
