Description
This is an original framed encaustic painting a Scottish mountain range and wildflowers. Encaustic work is an ancient method of painting which involves fusing wax, hardening agent and pigments with heat. I have applied thick layers of pigment and hot wax to indicate the sky and the mountains in the distance. I have then applied thinner layers in the foreground and painted the wildflowers using a variety of painting knives. I've scratched into the warm wax and oils using old nails to create texture and interest.
