Charcoal allows for an intimate look into the soul of the animal kingdom.
Stripping away colour shifts the focus entirely to the texture of fur, the sheen of feathers, and the depth within a subjects eyes.
Each piece utilises soft charcoal layers and precise erasing to build realistic dimension.
The final art captures the unique personality and silent wisdom of living creatures.

Artistic background

Born from burnt willow and compressed earth, charcoal is a medium of raw contrasts and pure emotion. Stripped of colour, these pieces exist in the space between light and shadow. Every bold stroke and delicate smudge serves to capture not just a likeness, but the very essence and texture of the subject.

Embracing one of humanity's oldest artistic traditions, these works are created using traditional charcoal and fine-grain paper. This medium demands a deliberate balance of precision and gesture. By utilising reductive and additive techniques - drawing both with the charcoal and the kneaded eraser - each piece explores depth, form, and the dramatic interplay of light.
