Description
Lost My Marbles is an illusinary piece that creates a aense of mayhem and abstractness, displaying the looming, terrifying notion of ‘losing your marbles’ in an extremely literal way. It’s intended to be so literal that it’s almost comical, mirroring that of when sanity is lost, un-funny things become that of a star quality comedian. Painted out of sheer frustration of people consistently mocking mental health in discussions, I wanted to create an art piece that clearly demonstrates the agony and confusion feelings of ‘mind play’ can cause. Having renaissance like clouds contrast an old receptionist looking room; a lack of hair to portray stress; coloured marbles overflowing out where a brain would be, to re-exaggerate feelings that a brain may not be “correct”. I hope this piece brings about conversations about how important it is to discuss mental health seriously :)
