Axel Gill

Hello there! My name is Axel, I'm a 22 year old oil painter from North Yorkshire, currently based in London. Since graduating University in 2024, I've been continuing with my personal gothic horror and magical realism based art practice, as well as incorporating a fan art side to my work to combine my enjoyments. Artistic background

I grew up in Richmondshire, North Yorkshire, doing some pencil and pet portrait commissions and having some work in cafes both in Richmond and Bedford between the ages 11 and 16. During this time I also received a grade 9 in GCSE Art. I completed an Extended Diploma in Fashion at age 18 at The Northern School of Art and received a Distinction for my work, moving on to receive a First Class BA (Hons) degree in Fine Art at age 20 from Liverpool John Moores University. During my university course, I'd moved on to primarily focusing on oil paintings, mostly within the Magical Realism genre, and usually incorporating some form of portraiture. I portray messages of mental health awareness within my work, as well as having a fan-art side to my practice.
