Description
I gather plums each summer from a beautiful old orchard, filling baskets for winter stores while the branches bow under their own abundance. Heavy with fruit, the boughs often seem close to breaking, their generosity both precarious and tender.
This watercolour was painted using my own photographs alongside fresh fruit studied from life. I was drawn to the natural grace of the plum tree — the gentle arc of its branches, the soft droop of the leaves — and to the deep, velvety skins of the fruit themselves, rich with wine-reds, purples, and warm shadows that hint at their sweetness.
This is a colourful botanical study of plums on the tree, celebrating ripeness, seasonality, and quiet plenty.
The painting bears my signature on the front, along with the name of the fruit.
The artwork measures 16 x 11.5 inches and is presented with a 16 x 20-inch crisp white mount card.
