There are moments when light transforms an ordinary landscape into something extraordinary. Sky in Communion was inspired by one of those moments.
Part of my ongoing Meditations in Light series, this painting explores the relationship between light and shadow, stillness and movement, earth and sky. Rich layers of violet, rose, gold and soft lavender create an atmosphere that feels both expansive and intimate.
Rather than depicting a specific location, the painting invites the viewer into a contemplative space where the boundaries between the visible and unseen seem to soften.
Painted using professional acrylics on canvas, the work has been developed through multiple layers of glazing, intuitive mark-making and expressive brushwork. The foreground remains suggestive and atmospheric, allowing the dramatic sky to become the central focus.
