Sky in Stillness Acrylic

There are moments when the world becomes completely quiet.
Not because life has stopped, but because, for a brief moment, the mind no longer needs to search for answers.
Sky in Stillness was painted from one of those moments.
Part of my Meditation in Light series, this original acrylic painting explores the peaceful space that exists beyond thought, where sky, sea and light gently merge into one another. Rather than depicting a specific location, it invites the viewer into an inner landscape—a place where breathing slows, the heart softens and the endless movement of everyday life gives way to calm awareness.
Soft layers of blue, lavender and delicate rose drift across the expansive sky while luminous clouds seem to dissolve into light. Below, the coastline quietly anchors the composition, creating a gentle balance between earth and sky. Every brushstroke was applied intuitively, allowing the painting to evolve naturally rather than being tightly planned.
My work is inspired by Dorset's coastline, but it is never intended to be a literal representation. Instead, I paint the feeling of standing before an immense sky and experiencing that rare sense of spaciousness where nothing needs to be changed.
The title, Sky in Stillness, reflects that experience perfectly.

About the Meditation in Light Series
