Description
There are moments in the studio when a painting quietly takes on a life of its own. Sky in Joy was one of those moments.
As the expansive sky emerged in layers of soft blue, warm peach and delicate golden light, the landscape slowly revealed itself beneath it. The painting felt peaceful, yet something was gently calling for one final touch. Almost instinctively, I painted a small tree. It had never been part of my original plan, but as soon as it appeared, I found myself smiling. In that simple, joyful moment, the painting revealed its own title.
Sky in Joy is part of my ongoing Meditation in Light series—a collection inspired not by specific locations, but by those quiet moments in nature that invite us to slow down, breathe deeply and reconnect with ourselves. Rather than depicting a recognisable place, each painting offers a contemplative space where light becomes both subject and guide.
The luminous sky dominates the composition, stretching across the canvas with expressive yet gentle brushwork. A winding path leads the eye through the peaceful landscape towards the solitary tree, creating a subtle sense of journey and quiet discovery. The restrained colour palette of soft blues, warm coral tones and gentle earth colours creates a calming atmosphere that brings harmony to both contemporary and traditional interiors.
