OK, Jack! I’ll be with You Soon Collage

This is the fifth of a series of canvases depicting Pop Art ladies with telephones calling famous artists, only this time the lady is using a mobile phone. ‘OK, Jack! I’ll be with you soon’, tells the story of a young lady on her mobile phone, reminding Jack of their date to meet on the beach. This is a reference to an early work by Scottish artist Jack Vettriano. His picture, ‘Sweet Bird of Youth’ shows a group of young sun worshipers carrying deckchairs onto the beach. The beach theme became one of his favourites and was used in several of his pictures. A touch of humour has been added with a lady struggling with a windblown umbrella, which had been given to her by the butler – a character made famous by Vettriano in other beach scenes. In keeping with the other pictures in this series, this canvas contains approximately 800 postage stamps with the addition of acrylic paint to complete the picture.
