Postage Stamp Collage
This postage stamp collage is inspired by Roy Lichtenstein’s epic work entitled, “Whaam!” created in 1963. This iconic image is as relevant today as when the original was created in the last century. As in Lichtenstein’s work this collage is composed of two panels. The left-hand panel shows a fighter plane firing a rocket that, in the right-hand panel, hits a second plane which explodes in flames. Each panel is carefully created from approximately 1800 used postage stamps and is mounted on a wooden, framed hardwood base which is very heavy. Each panel is 79 cm square.
