Stay Gold Acrylic

This painting is inspired by the famous sunrise scene from The Outsiders book / movie / musical, where Ponyboy quotes the Robert Frost poem 'Nothing Gold Can Stay'. The silhouettes of Ponyboy and Johnny are contrasted against the beautiful colours of the sunrise.

The Outsiders holds a special place in my heart, and fits perfectly with a love of painting sunsets. I have previously painted variations of this scene, one of which was auctioned at a fundraising gala for the Outsiders House Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in October 2025, with the author S.E.Hinton present. Another version of the scene has been sent to The Stay Gold Foundation in the US, to support their mission of promoting literacy.

An original painting in acrylics on primed heavyweight paper. The picture is sent in an A3 sized white cardboard mount (16.54 x 11.69 inches) ready to be fitted into an A3 sized frame. The visible area of the painting is A4 (11.69 x 8.27 inches), and the paper is cut slightly larger than this so that it could be attached to the mount.

Signed on the back and sent with a certificate of authenticity. The painting will be carefully packaged and dispatched promptly.
