Ascension is the second painting in my Maria Magdalena Series — a four-part spiritual journey exploring devotion, initiation, illumination and love.

This work was born from a life-changing experience inside the Great Pyramid of Giza. Years ago, I sat inside the sarcophagus in the upper chamber. Something shifted within me — deeply and permanently. Very soon after, my marriage ended, and it was in that season of standing alone that my spiritual path truly began.

This painting emerged through prayer, meditation, and a conscious alignment with my Oneness with God. I did not feel alone in its making. I felt guided.

The ascending steps, the solitary feminine figure, the illuminated pyramid — each element represents initiation. The courage to walk toward transformation. The willingness to enter the unknown.

Layers of acrylic were built and reshaped over months. Gold leaf was applied not as ornament, but as divine presence — light emanating from within.

Ascension may stand alone, yet it forms part of a sacred progression within the Maria Magdalena Series.

Short Biography – Why This Series Was Created

The Maria Magdalena series was born from a deeply personal calling.

In 1946, my father gave me the name Maria Magdalena — long before she was widely recognised as a close companion of Jesus, a spiritual equal, or a high initiated priestess of the Essene tradition. At that time, she was still largely portrayed through misunderstanding and distortion.

As I have grown, painted, and walked my own spiritual path, I began to feel the quiet strength of that name echoing within me. This series is my way of honouring that lineage — not as dogma, but as remembrance.

Sacrifice was the beginning of that remembering.
