Eryngium & Visitor, the artist turns a moment of quiet pollination into a celebration of texture, form, and ecological harmony. At the center of the composition stands an Eryngium flower, commonly known as sea holly, rendered in delicate tones of lavender and silver-blue. Clinging to its spiky head is a vivid yellow-black wasp, caught mid-forage, offering a glimpse into the vital yet often unnoticed exchanges that power the natural world.
The background is a rich field of tactile green, composed of layered, almost embossed brushstrokes that suggest a lush, living environment while remaining abstract enough to draw focus to the central subject. The contrast between the sharp lines of the flower and the swirling, organic texture of the background creates a dynamic interplay of movement and stillness.
Signed and dated in the lower right corner, this work draws viewers into the microcosmic beauty of a single interaction—intimate, ephemeral, and essential.
