Fen Sunrise Watercolours

I painted this watercolour to capture the quiet atmosphere of a fen at sunrise. In the foreground, tall reeds rise and overlap, their fine, gestural lines creating a sense of movement and rhythm against the stillness of the landscape. I used loose, expressive marks for the reeds, allowing their darker tones to anchor the composition and contrast with the luminous sky beyond.

The sky is formed from soft washes of pale gold, warm pink, and cool blue, gently merging to suggest the first light of day and the calm transition from night to morning.
