The Maria Magdalena Series is a four-part body of work that traces a spiritual path — a quiet progression through surrender, awakening, illumination, and finally love. Each painting was created over months of reflection, prayer, and deep personal transformation, and together they form a continuous meditation rather than four separate works.
The journey begins with Sacrifice — the moment of surrender.
The willingness to lay down what no longer serves in order to step onto a truer path.
It continues with Ascension, born from an experience that profoundly altered my life. Years ago, inside the Great Pyramid of Giza, I sat in the stone sarcophagus of the King’s Chamber. Something shifted within me that day. Soon after, my marriage ended and a new spiritual path opened. Ascension reflects that moment of stepping into the unknown — climbing toward transformation with courage and faith.
From there emerges Illumination.
Not dramatic light, but the quiet clarity that arrives once the threshold has been crossed — the moment when inner knowing begins to guide the way.
The journey concludes with Love — the final embodiment. This painting was not planned. It appeared after I surrendered another work that refused to resolve. In releasing control, the painting revealed itself with freedom, warmth, and strength.
Across the series, layers of acrylic were built and reshaped over time, creating textured surfaces that hold the history of their making. Gold leaf was applied throughout the works not as decoration, but as a symbol of divine presence — light emerging from within the painting itself.
Together, the four works form a complete narrative arc. Each painting may stand independently, yet when experienced as a set the series becomes a visual pilgrimage — a movement from surrender through awakening into embodied love.
