Sacrifice is not about loss. It is about conscious devotion — the sacred moment when we place something on the altar of our own becoming.

This painting emerged slowly through prayer, meditation, and a deep inner alignment with my Higher Power. The first whisper of this series came shortly after my birthday last year — just a knowing, nothing dramatic, but persistent. By late September I began the first pass on all four canvases.

Over the following six months, I returned to them again and again. I worked on them regularly, always feeling quietly guided in the creative process. Nothing was forced. Each layer revealed itself in its own time.

I would step back. Listen. Adjust. Trust. They were not rushed. They were led.

Layers of acrylic were built and softened. Textures were created and partially removed. Gold leaf was pressed gently into the surface — not as decoration, but as presence. As the divine thread woven through human surrender.

This work came from deep within me — from remembrance rather than invention.

As the first painting in my Maria Magdalena series, Sacrifice carries weight and stillness. It does not shout. It holds.

Short Biography – Why This Series Was Created

The Maria Magdalena series was born from a deeply personal calling.

In 1946, my father gave me the name Maria Magdalena — long before she was widely recognised as a close companion of Jesus, a spiritual equal, or a high initiated priestess of the Essene tradition. At that time, she was still largely portrayed through misunderstanding and distortion.

As I have grown, painted, and walked my own spiritual path, I began to feel the quiet strength of that name echoing within me. This series is my way of honouring that lineage — not as dogma, but as remembrance.

Sacrifice is the beginning of that remembering.
