The Crashing Sea Oil

I often go to Italy. One night I was entranced, under the moonlight, now and then hidden by passing clouds, the sea crashing against the rocks, the white foam and spray a contrast against the dark sea. In my painting, I wanted to reproduce not just the picture but the emotion it inspired. I hope the viewer can almost hear the crashing of the wave, then forming little rivulets down the rock face. Much of it is painted from memory and I use layers of thin paint to create depth and light on a reasonably smooth surface. I hope the viewer will be captured by the drama and magic of this seascape.
