Artistic background

My work explores what exists beyond immediate perception. Sometimes that means looking inward, translating vivid dreams and nightmares into visual records. Other times, it means looking outward, exploring science, emerging technologies, and ideas that challenge how we understand the world.

I have always been fascinated by the way people experience reality. Living with severe dyslexia has shaped that curiosity even further, encouraging me to find different ways of thinking, observing, and creating. Digital tools have become an important part of that process, not because they replace creativity, but because they allow me to express ideas with a level of detail that would otherwise remain locked in my mind.

One collection is deeply personal. It is drawn directly from my dreams, recurring locations, and experiences that have stayed with me long after waking. These pieces are visual records of memories from sleep, translated as faithfully as possible.

Alongside this sits HEGG, a research system that I designed to explore ideas beyond my own knowledge. Although created for research rather than art, HEGG developed a remarkable way of transforming its investigations into visual interpretations. The result is a second body of work that explores speculative science, biology, communication, engineering, and the relationship between natural systems and technology.

Although these collections begin in very different places, they share the same purpose: exploring ideas that cannot always be explained through words alone. Whether the inspiration comes from the subconscious mind or from scientific exploration, every piece is an attempt to make the unseen visible.
