Artistic background
I started painting and drawing when I was about five and now teach and perform demonstrations to individuals, local groups, and clubs. I have sold work in various galleries worldwide and do a lot of commission work.I have a portfolio of nearly 500 original paintings in Oil, Acrylic and Watercolour. I like to paint cityscapes, towns, seascapes, and landscapes. The medium I prefer is Oil, but I use Watercolour and Acrylic. A lot of my work is shown on my website: www.chrissheldrake.com
I take pride in producing high-quality giclee prints from my original paintings, ensuring that the essence and beauty of the original artwork are preserved on canvas and paper.
I have won various awards, including Best Painting in Show, Harrogate and Nidderdale Art Club.
Featured artist 2012 Leeds Art Exhibition
Featured in the Yorkshire Living Magazine.
And many more.

Quote
I was once asked, "Out of the 450 pictures you have painted, witch is your best one?"My reply, "Was all of them!"
Interests
My interest is mainly centered around my painting. I have taught myself to photograph scenes and record them on my computer. I now have 60 GB of images, which I use to help me with my paintings.I experimented with how the physics of light affects colour. After researching these effects, I hope to improve my paintings.
My curiosity also extends to how other ancient and modern artists painted, including what they painted on, the paint used, the initial drawing, etc.
My other interest is to paint with words. I have now written ten short kid's stories.
I have illustrated four of them. I hope to publish some of them this winter.
I paint with words starting with a basic idea, such as a scene or an event, in my head. I then use my imagination to broaden the narrative. It is a great way to express creativity.
