Mysterious Bookends Mixed Media

Mixed media combination of acrylics and vintage papers on a 30 by 40 cm canvas

I used various textures of paper to make up a mysterious background, a dreamlike vision of a bookcase in a corner of a long forgotten house. The background is dark, but I never use black. Instead there are teals and deep blues that bring out the vibrancy of the glowing greens and yellows of the glass.

My fascination is with the not so perfect. In a lot of my work you will see the fractured and the broken, still life arrangements of bits and pieces, texture and colour. I also like to introduce the vibrancy of nature to a scene. Some time after I had finished them I revisited and introduced the butterflies/moths.
