Description

Acrylic, plastic, wood, and textile on linen canvas
120 × 100 × 4 cm (47 × 36 × 1.6 in)

Hyperion is a richly textured painting inspired by the enigmatic moon of Saturn. Built from layers of acrylic, gesso, plastic, wood, and textile, the surface is sculptural and tactile inviting both visual and physical engagement. Warm shades of coral, rose, and gold evoke the moon’s unique sponge-like terrain, its deep craters, and organic reddish deposits.

Hyperion, discovered in 1848, is an irregular, chaotically rotating moon whose low-density, porous body reflects light in an otherworldly way. Named for the Titan god of watchfulness and vision, it has long inspired a sense of cosmic mystery. This work translates that alien geology into an abstract relief, where ridges and recesses catch shifting light much like the moon’s fractured surface.
Finished with a UV-protective varnish to guard against light and dust. Signed and dated on the back, with a Certificate of Authenticity included.
